While the army and the king cowered in fear before Goliath, that seemingly unbeatable threat to their freedom, David demonstrated real courage and answered the giant’s challenge. Those who were afraid would neither step up nor believe that David could succeed. But David’s courage was not based on his abilities but on confidence in God’s power and providence.
