About Lakeland
Lakeland Presbyterian Church is a gospel-centered community in Flowood, Mississippi. We are a church family seeking to worship Jesus, make disciples, and love our neighbors to the glory of God and the good of our community.
Our hope is to be a city on a hill in Flowood, Rankin County, and the Jackson Metro—a place where the broken find hope, believers grow in maturity, and Jesus is treasured above all.
Jesus is the Hero
At Lakeland, being gospel-centered means more than using certain words or phrases.
We do not believe the Christian life is simply about trying harder, doing more, or finding better self-help strategies. Our hope is the grace of God given to us in Jesus Christ.
That grace changes us. It frees us to follow Jesus, grow in holiness, love one another, and live with hope.
Again and again, we want to be reminded:
Jesus is better. Jesus is enough. Jesus is the hero.
Worship That is Rooted and Alive
Our worship is rooted in the historic Christian faith while seeking to speak clearly and meaningfully to life today.
We believe worship is something the whole church participates in, not something we simply watch. We read Scripture together, confess our faith, pray, hear God’s Word preached, and lift our voices together in song.
Our music is blended, drawing from the best hymns and songs of both the past and present. We use a full band, but we want the congregation—not the platform—to be the primary voice in worship.
Our preaching is typically expositional, working through books of the Bible and seeking to show how all of Scripture leads us again and again to the grace of God in Christ.
A Community of Grace
We want Lakeland to be a church where people can be honest, known, and loved.
Because we have first been loved by Jesus, we are freed to love and share life with one another in patience, truth, kindness, and grace.
That means bearing burdens, encouraging one another, forgiving, serving, praying, celebrating, grieving, and walking together through real life.
For Flowood and Beyond
We want to be good neighbors.
Lakeland seeks the flourishing of Flowood, Rankin County, and the Jackson Metro through relationships, service, and partnerships with local ministries.
We also believe Christ’s kingdom is much bigger than our own church. We support church planting, local ministry, and global missions as we seek to take part in what God is doing near and far.
Presbyterian, Reformed, and Centered on Christ
Lakeland is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and is rooted in the Reformed tradition and the historic Christian faith.
But we never want theology to remain merely academic. We believe truth should lead us to worship, humility, assurance, obedience, and joy.
At our best, Lakeland is a church where Jesus is lifted up and treasured above all else.
And our hope for every person who becomes part of this church is that they would grow in wonder, awe, and joy at this truth:
