Steve Jussely was born in Decatur, GA, but is a naturalized citizen of Mississippi. The son of a preacher-man, he moved to Hattiesburg in ’58 and graduated from Hattiesburg High School in 1970, THE University of Southern Mississippi in 1974 (BS), Reformed Theological Seminary (Jackson, MS) in 1982 (MDiv), and received a D. Min. degree from RTS in 1997.

Having been born into a pastor’s home, it seems like he’s been in the ministry from his first moment of self-awareness. He has served as Director of Youth Ministries and Associate Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Hattiesburg (’80-85), Senior Pastor of Rainbow Presbyterian Church in Gadsden, AL (’85-’89), Senior Pastor of Alta Woods Presbyterian Church in Jackson (’89-’97), and Senior Pastor of Lakeland Presbyterian Church in Flowood (’97-Present).

Steve is greatly blessed with a wife of 30 years, Carol Smith Jussely, resides in Brandon, and the Lord God has graciously given Steve and Carol three children: Aaron, Ellen, and Mary Claire. He also has three dogs — a mixed blessing, at best. Before pursuing his calling to the ministry of the Gospel and his passion for preaching and teaching the Word, he was a former teacher, coach, and radio announcer. Steve loves to read, loves all kinds of good music, and loves to play his Taylor guitars.

VBS VOLUNTEER MEETING – Wednesday, April 24th, at 7:00 pm. If you would like to volunteer at LPC’s 2024 VBS, email Tammy Davis (tdavis@lakelandpres.org) or fill out the insert in your Sunday bulletin. (Inserts can also be found in the sanctuary and education building foyers).

RUMMAGE SALE – We need your donations for a church-wide rummage sale benefiting LPC’S short-term mission trip to Longview Ranch. Sale Date is April 27th at High’s Heaters and Grills (105 Bluebird Lane, Brandon MS, 39042). What we need: donations of gently used clothing, shoes, toys, games, outdoor items, home décor, sporting equipment, small furniture, etc. Donation site will be available at LPC. Please contact John Revell (revjrev@gmail.com) or David Collipp if you have larger items that you wish to donate.

GRADUATING SENIOR BANQUET – Sunday, April 28th, for all Youth and their families. We will gather immediately after the 10:45 am church service in the Education Building Gym. Meat, bread, drinks, and desserts provided. *Everyone needs to bring salad, starch, or vegetables.*

LIFEWALK – We have the opportunity to support the Center for Pregnancy Choices of the Jackson Metro area by participating and fundraising for the 2024 Life Walk. Please join us in helping raise money for this organization. Using the link below, you can register as a walker. There will be a place to select Lakeland Presbyterian Church when you register. If you are unable to walk on Saturday, May 4th, you can still help by fundraising.
